My name is Steven Kelliher, but if you’re here, you probably already know that.
In short, I’m a fighter-turned-writer residing in the Boston area. I wish all disputes were still settled with a friendly game of hand-to-hand combat, and I write books I’d want to read.
My writing style has been described as lyrical by some contemporaries, with a focus on action and drama and a cinematic visual style. Primary creative influences include the worlds of Tolkien, Weis & Hickman and Hayao Miyazaki, and eastern philosophy can be glimpsed throughout my works. Primarily, I’m interested in character change, for better or worse, as well as man’s relationship with nature, nature’s benevolence or malevolence toward man and the ensuing conflicts that arise by their willing or grudging union. I tend to explore violence in my writing, sometimes positively, sometimes negatively, but usually a mix of the two.
My debut novel, Valley of Embers was released in August of 2016 and is the first of a series known as The Landkist Saga. In 2020, Landkist was signed by Monolith Books. The publisher will be re-releasing the entire series beginning in 2021 with all-new editions, including audio. Landkist will be comprised of seven novels, and if the series is successful, eventual prequel and sequel series are in the planning stages ala Star Wars.
I’ve got a TON of ideas floating around in my head, and if even half of them come to fruition, I think readers who join me on my creative journey will enjoy the ride.
